♣ North East India category:
♣ Best Short Feature

♣ All categories are open to professionals as well as students.
♣ Duration of the film (each category): 25 minutes including credit title.
♣ Dates: Films made between November 1, 2024 and September 15, 2025.
♣ Nationality of filmmaker — films in NE India category: Either (i) Films made by Indian citizens from the North East, NRIs included or (ii) Films made by anyone in the world but featuring North East India culture /people mentioned in the sub theme.
♣ Nationality of filmmaker — films from outside North East India category: Either (i) Films made by Indian citizens, NRIs included or (ii) Films made by anyone in the world but featuring Indian culture mentioned in the sub theme.
♣ Format: The film may be in any format.
♣ The film can either be silent or with dialogues. Films, other than those in English, must have English subtitles.
♣ If director is of North East India origin and/or the film is set in North East India category, please specify clearly.
♣ Entry forms with incorrect /inadequate /illegible /ambiguous particulars will not be considered. The festival committee reserves the rights to accepts or refuse any film without assigning any reason whatsoever.
♣ Once a film is submitted, no updated version would be accepted.
♣ Entry materials including stills, posters, synopsis of film shall not be returned to the entrant. Film Festival has the rights to use the entries/selected films, preview for promotional purposes and to retain the films as part of festival library.
♣ Films once selected and submitted for final screening will not be allowed to be withdrawn under any circumstances till festival is over.
♣ Chalachitram reserves the right to show the films on non commercial basis in different towns of North East for promotional/publicity purposes, excerpts of film which has entered the festival, may be shown in electronic media/internet and other related media during festival period.
♣ Entrants will retain all ownership rights.

Regular deadline | June 20 – July 19, 2025: Rs. 500/-
Final deadline | July 20 – Sept 20, 2025: Rs. 1,000/-

2. Submit on Filmfreeway
♣ A preview committee comprising artists, critics, film makers, etc. would be set up.
♣ The decision of the preview committee shall be final and binding.
♣ The tentative notification date is October 20, 2025.
♣ Chalachitram reserves the right to prepone or postpone the notification date.
♣ Filmmakers will be notified through the official website as well as email and WhatsApp.
♣ Selected filmmakers will be invited to attend Chalachitram 2025.
♣ Chalachitram does not provide travel/accommodation and is not liable to reimburse expenses for the same.
♣ The tentative festival dates are October 25 & 26, 2025.
♣ Chalachitram retains the right to pospone or prepone the Fesival.
♣ Chalachitram has the power to settle all cases not covered by rules and regulations.
♣ Participation in the Festival implies acceptance of all aforesaid regulations and respect of screening and submission rules.
♣ Submitted films must be the entrants’ original work and shall not infringe on any copyrights or any other rights of any third party. Contestants agree that they have obtained all required permission regarding music, sound and/or images. Chalachitram shall not to be held liable for any copyrights infringement perpetuated by the contestant.
♣ Chalachitram reserves the right not to screen any film for any reason it deems valid.
♣ The contestant accepts responsibility of the accuracy of information supplied and authorizes Chalachitram to reproduce /use personal /company’s contact information.
♣ All legal issues, if any shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Guwahati High Court.
♣ Film should be submitted before the final deadline.
♣ Chalachitram shall not be responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, fee due, stolen or misappropriated entries.
♣ Entry forms with incorrect particulars will not be considered.
♣ It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to submit their respective films without any physical/quality defects.
