Founder member of the Manipur Film Journalists and Critics Association. Former board director of the Manipur Film Development Corporation. Presently, additional director in the public relations dept. of the Manipur government, president of the Film Society of Manipur, and president of the Banian Repertory Theatre, Imphal.

    Winner of the Sir William Darling Memorial Prize by the University of Edinburgh, the Sue Grant Service Award, and the Silver Award at the Shine! British Council International Student Awards (all UK), and a National Film Award for Best Film Critic (India). Former editor of Stardust. Former advisor of the Global University Students Film Festival (Hong Kong). Former festival director of the Edinburgh Festival of Indian Films and Docs. Founder festival director of the Teen Indie Film Awards.

    Founder of the Ahmedabad International Film Festival. Founder of Platoon One Films. Former CEO of Drishyam Films. Associate Producer of Masaan & Newton. Producer of Picasso (National Award winning Marathi film) and Ghaath (Nominated at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival). Spearhead of PVR Pictures’ Directors’ Rare, a limited release indie-film arm of India’s biggest film exhibitor, PVR Cinemas. Winner of the MICA Award for Creative and Entrepreneurial Excellence.

    Rahul Rawail in conversation with Indrani Laskar. Followed by launch by Rawail of Prantik Deka’s book ‘Past Revisited’.

    Rahul Rawail assisted Raj Kapoor. His debut film starred Rishi Kapoor, Parveen Babi, Rajendra Kumar, & Asha Parekh. He later launched Kajol & Sunny Deol, & introduced Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Bollywood. He is an advisor of major international film festivals, & has served as the Panorama jury chief of the International Film Festival of India (twice), & as the head of the feature films jury at National Film Awards & the Moscow International Film Festival.

    Rima Das’ Village Rockstars won the Film Critics Circle of India Award for the Best Indian Film of 2017.

    Jury member Christopher Dalton declared it “a milestone film of sorts, which epitomises the trials and tribulations, and heralds the coming of age, of a filmmaker, of her protagonist, and of the indie film movement in India.”

    The film went on to win 4 National Film Awards, 3 MAMI Awards, and 4 Assam State Film Awards. And was India’s official selection for the Foreign Language Oscar.
